ASA Filament

Engineering filament intended for outdoor-related parts. Grades are quoted per project with their approved spec sheets — this page explains how to evaluate ASA on your machines instead of trusting generic marketing numbers.

What ASA Is For

ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is the outdoor-capable member of the styrene family: UV stability and weatherability are the reasons it exists. Typical uses: exterior housings, garden and marine-adjacent parts, signage, automotive trim.

  • UV stability is a material-class characteristic — grade-specific behavior is confirmed via its TDS and your testing
  • Enclosed printers and managed chamber temperatures usually advised
  • Exact grades, tolerances and printing windows released with approved documentation

Outdoor Evaluation: How to Judge ASA Honestly

We don’t publish outdoor-lifetime or colorfastness promises — those depend on climate, geometry and exposure. Instead, here’s the evaluation structure we support.

Define exposure

Your real conditions

UV intensity, humidity cycles, temperature range, mechanical load — write them down as test inputs.

Define criteria

Measurable pass marks

Color shift tolerance, impact retention, dimensional change — agreed before samples ship.

Then test

Paid samples, your bench

Samples printed in the target grade, evaluated against your criteria over your exposure window.
