Custom Filament Development

Start from a performance target: a formulation that doesn’t exist in any catalogue. Feasibility review, iterative development, validated samples, then a production-ready handover. This is not packaging or color work — those live in OEM.

Material not decided yet? That’s a valid starting point — begin with the property you need.

Goals That Belong Here

New formulation

Tune an existing family

Toughness, stiffness, finish, flow — adjusting a known material class toward your target.

New material

Introduce a new class

A polymer family outside the current catalogue, evaluated for your use case.

New property

Solve one constraint

Temperature, speed, dimensional stability — a single property blocking your product.

How Development Runs

Seven stages, each with a defined exit — you decide at every gate.

STAGE 01

Brief & Constraints

Performance target, application, machine fleet, cost envelope, compliance needs. Material can be “undecided”.

STAGE 02

Feasibility Review

Honest assessment: achievable, achievable-with-tradeoffs, or not realistic — before you spend on samples.

STAGE 03

Formulation Iteration

Compound selection and adjustment rounds, each logged with what changed and why.

STAGE 04

Sample Testing

Samples against your test inputs and acceptance criteria — on your machines, in your environment.

STAGE 05

Pilot Production

The formulation run at production scale to prove it survives real extrusion conditions.

STAGE 06

Approval & Spec Lock

Final spec frozen in writing — the configuration your production orders follow.

STAGE 07

Handover & Change Control

Ongoing supply under the locked spec; any formulation change goes through change control, never silently.

Evidence & Boundaries

We don’t invent lab assets, patents or success rates. What we can show: the development log structure above, the production base’s 8 R&D engineers and 15 test printers, and QC evidence under the assessed quality system.

  • Development log: iterations, changes and rationales documented
  • Test printers at the facility for first-pass screening before samples ship to you
  • Everything confidential by default — NDA wording per project
