Filament Quality Control, Batches & Changes

How filament quality is controlled, recorded and traced — and how changes are managed so your reorders match your first order. Quality control is production-side; testing your parts before volume is product validation.

Control Points Across the Line

Raw material

Input control

Resin lots recorded on entry; pellet drying controlled before extrusion — moisture is a filament defect factory.

Extrusion

Process control

Diameter monitored through the line against the ±0.02 mm spec at 1.75 mm; winding quality controlled per spool.

Finished goods

Output control

Full finished-piece inspection supplemented by random sampling, before vacuum sealing and packing.

Records: written inspection records per batch · written complaint procedures · QC coverage on all production lines

Batch Traceability

Every finished spool carries a lot identification that traces back to the raw material used to make it.

  • Why it matters: a print problem on a customer’s machine becomes a targeted investigation, not a guessing game
  • What you get: lot references on your order documentation; COA availability and batch documents on request
  • For audits: the trail is documented under the assessed quality system

Change Control

Suppliers change formulations silently more often than anyone admits. Here, changes go through a written procedure:

Rule 01

Nothing silent

Any material, process or packaging change affecting your product is notified and approved before it ships to you.

Rule 02

Specs are locked

Your approved configuration — including development formulations — is the reference every batch is judged against.

Rule 03

Re-validation when needed

Material-level changes trigger a re-validation round, not just a notification.
